Iceberg Landing

We have Juergen as guide today and so prepare the helicopter so that we can take him the back.  All prepared we off and fly the Disko Bugt which is an ice fjord.  The whole fjord is packed with ice that has carved off from a massive glacier.  The mouth of the fjord jammed with stranded icebergs which will eventually be pushed out by the build up of ice.

We fly along the face and over the glacier taking what we hope will be fantastic pictures.  We turn north flying over 5 more glaciers up to the Eqi Glacier and the Eqi Camp (Camp Victor).  During these flights over the glacier we watch as ice tumbles form the glacier face and falls to the water below.

Landing at the Eqi Camp we are attacked by a swarm of Mosquitoes and need to take cover in the camp building were Peter and Juergen have lunch.

After lunch we set of back to Illulisat past Arvre-prinsens Ejland and past thousands of further icebergs.  Here we search for an iceberg to land on, it has to be stable, flat, large.  We find one circle over it and land.  Here we get out and take photos.

After our little adventure, having claimed and named the iceberg "Three Journeys Round" we head back to the airport and to Juergen's house for a beer.

Tonight we have dinner again at the Artic Hotel as everywhere else is fully booked.  Dinner over we head in town were we are staying ,the ice fiords apartments.
