Scud running to Prince Rupert Island

Today we are trying to make it to Port Hardy, but the winds look as if they are against us.  The general weather today does not look great.  We decide, that we will try and steal a base and get as far as Prince Rupert.

Because we shared the room last night I am the last on to get ready which results in a little barney with Peter who had organized the taxi before I was out of the shower.  Supposedly taxis do not operate on a Saturday morning because the all got drunk on Friday night.

Today we depart Sitka and pretty much scud run the whole day down the coast, first to Wrangell and then to our destination.  Wrangell was a small place, so it was good that we had not decided to stay here last night.  It was small but the airport was pretty cool and a DC 3 was in the process of being refurbished.  Prince Rupert airport is on an Island it is also in Canada, so we are crossing the border.  When we land on Prince Rupert Island we are given three choices, wait for the three hours to get the water bus, spend CAD$200 each way on a water taxi, or fly over the the heliport.  The obvious choice was to fly, but we had Tommy with us.  After some discussion we decided to fly and we would, ferry back and forth to get Tommy over with us.

The heliport was a public heliport and was a pretty cool place.  From hear we set off the the Moby Dick restauarant.  After dinner at a Greek restaurant I head of to,find what happens on Prince Rupert Island on a Sunday.  I soon discover that not a lot happens.  There is only one bar open on a Sunday and it is the Casino.

So a quiet night.
