The Epic Journey Begins

Well the day finally arrived, packing complete, panics had and nerves frayed (not mine but the wive's), myself and Peter made our way to the red helicopter, G-DIGA.  Luck seemed to be on our side, the sun was bright and a high was sitting over England.  After looking at the weather it appeared that France was just a good.  Not all was perfect though, after further investigation it seems that the clear skies the night before had made way for morning fog along the coast and English Channel, we would have to wait a little longer.
30 minutes was long enough for the mist and fog to burn off, it was time to go.  Photos taken, hugs given and kisses to the wives made we donned our lifejackets and boarded the aircraft.  Master on, battery checked (greater than 24.9V), MGT below 150c, timer set, starter engaged.  Ahh! the sound of a turbine start, finally the day have truly arrived.  Collective raised and skids up. pedal turn to the left, cyclic forward and into the blue sky above.  Le Touquet (LFAT) the next stop.  Avignon the next sleep.  120 sleeps to go.
