On to Elba

A great day!  A day dark blue sky greeted us this morning after decent breakfast.  Having paid the hotel bill we set if to the helicopter and removed the cover and set about preparing for our flight.  Clearance was issued a we lifted early to the east.  The skies were clear and the controllers helpful.

Coasting out over Saint Tropez the sea, sky and mist seams to merge, but enough horizon was evident at 2,500 ft to keep going.  The first new land to peer through the mist was Corisica surrounded by sailing and fishing boats.  We passed over to the north and carried on to the Elba.

Cleared to land in Elba on 34 we enter around the bay and over the hill for left downwind and a short final with a mild quartering wind to starboard for.  Down safe and sound we paid for fuel and the landing, now to the hotel, Hotel Eden Park.

On arrival it looked as if we were the only people staying, we were mistaken, a party of elderly Germans were also here.  However, the season is early and the pool is being cleaned, no swim today.  The rooms are basic and again we are reminded that the season is early as the lights to the rooms need to be switched on via the fuse box.  Dinner was also a basic affair with some pretty terrible music, pasta, and veal (not my favourite).  So far dinners have been trying!  A small consolation was the free wine tasting (ok red, dodgy white).

A small hiccup was discovered in the hotel room when I unpacked my Surface Pro to find that somehow the screen had been broken during the day, not sure when, but possibly in the morning when the small rucksack fell to,the floor.

Ho hum, if that is all that breaks this trip that is fine.  Any way time to upgrade to the Surface Pro 4 I guess
