Muscat Museum, Palace and Souk

After the previous nights festivities it is off to see Muscat.  However we first have breakfast at Leylaki in the The Walk  at the Wave.  The Omelette was not as good as the previous days fair as it was under cooked, oh why do people not cook food properly.

Back at Ooutbound Oman Adil pick us up and drove us to the Grand Mosque.  Enroute we passed by the JCB dealership, Doosan dealership and Cat Dealership.  So I even managed to get some work in while at Oman.  The Mosque (Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque) was magnificent as is currently the second largest mosque in the Gulf region, which probably means that is is the second largest in the world.  It also contains the second largest single piece carpet in the world.

On the way to the next stop, the Mutrah Souk we saw the Royal Yachts.  There are currently two.  The new one is slightly smaller than the old one and was a gift.  Next door to the yachts sat the Queen Mary 2 and another cruise ship. The Souk contained all the normal fair one would expect, but the scents were very prominent.  Of course it was full of tourists etc.

Just down the road from the souk was a small museum called Bait Al Zubair.  Here the museum regaled the history of the royal family and displayed the clothing of the differing regions of Oman.

The royal palace in Muscat is situated nearby.  The cleanliness of the palace walls and grounds was striking.  Why they are not soiled during sandstorms etc I am not sure, and if they are, someone must have the enviable task of cleaning them.

Next was lunch in the financial district at Woodlands Indian.  Supposedly this restaurant has been voted the no 1 Indian in Oman on numerous occasion, and I could see why.  Once lunch was had, we had an interview with an Omani Newpaper for its Magazine Supplement.

Interview completed it was back to OBO and time to chill.  Dinner was had at the Holiday Inn, followed by watching the football, Man Utd V Anderlecht (2(3) - 1(2)) .  The game completed I made it back to the aparment at 2:30 and purchased a replacement Surface book by 3am.
