Thailand Rules

In Yangon you have to be careful what you ask for.  Having asked for like with my pancake ( they did not have lemon) I was served a pancake with slicees of lemon cooked into the batter.  These guys will do as you ask. I can just imagine the chef thinking this is a new one, how do cook this?

Our experience at the airport this morning was completely different.  The agent could speak good English, knew what he was doing and wished us through in good time.  He also explained that the guy yesterday had got the billing wrong.  He was charging us for a 11ton aircraft.  The proper bill is actually $300, a vast improvement.

Today both Peter and I decided that it may be a good idea if we actually knew how our life vests worked.  We have only travelled a few thousand miles across various sees, rivers etc..  probably should have had this briefing a little sooner.

The flight to U-Tapao invlobed crossing the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.  Were we're finally crossing real lush green lands.  We also had hills and with the hills towering cumulus clouds, we would, have to be careful.  Making sure we were visual with the ground and with wahatbwas in front of us we have to change levels on numerous occasion.  Dropping down meant that we lost radio contact, climbing meant that we were getting too, close to the clouds in the hilly terrain.  The towering CBs held for for long enough for us to find a path through the hills along the valleys and over to the other side.

Throughnout Myanmar you can see golden temples, on entering Thailand you still have temples but they are fewer and appear less glamorous.  The Thai temples appear to concentrate more on statues of Buddha and less on the actual building.

For most of Thailand we had no radio communication.  Our initial high level Bangkok controller passed us over the a low level controller to whom we could not contact.  Eventually we managed to contact U-Tapao approach who brought us in safely.

At U-Tapao everything went swimmingly and we did not even have to talk to customs or hand our passports in.  The only dampener is thatb they want $785.  We shall see what we can sort out tomorrow.

While we sited for fuel we were enteretained by the Thai airforce flying in formation overhead inF16's or something similar.  The boys were also out with an unmanned drone.  Looks like they were having a fun day.

We are staying at the Lord Nelson in Bang Chan.  Hotel reasonable.  The owner has her rules and she owns the hotel.  That was the response to the rquriemmet to give her a bht500 deposit in local currency.  After haggling we gave her $20.  Let us see if we get that back tomorrow.  Tonight I walked in the warm see and had a dip in the pool,  my first dip of the trip.

All good today and uptodate with the blog☺️
